West Berkshire Mencap, based Newbury, provides information, support and services for adults and children with a learning disability. They also give support to their families and carers locally. Whilst affiliated to Royal Mencap, West Berkshire Mencap is a separate charity.

Goals

West Berkshire Mencap approached Create IT to bid during an urgent tendering process they needed to go through. The charity’s IT was suffering from different ad-hoc systems all bolted together and now no longer working efficiently. Servers weren’t speaking to each other, there was no effective back up and the Windows server operating system was about to expire.

Solutions

  • Managed IT Support
  • Hardware / Software Procurement
  • Email Security and Anti-SPAM
  • Internet Connectivity
  • Endpoint Security
  • Cloud Telephony

Results

“We were more than happy to tender for this work as we are aware of the important work done by Mencap locally, and we were immediately able to establish a good working relationship.

Naturally, there was some scepticism about the cost of migrating to Cloud hosting, but we were able to put their fears to rest, and they know that the fundraising they do won’t have to be spent on outmoded systems and a costly, outdated IT infrastructure. They can concentrate on helping their clients.”

"We knew some of the people at Create IT and we received a personal introduction as well. As you can imagine, we were looking for a company that would offer value for money, and they don’t just live in the ‘tech’ world; they can understand the complexities facing a charity and explain the solutions in plain English."
